    Unhappy Just lost her :(

I just purchased 3 bearded pygmys at a reptile show this past saturday. When I got them home I noticed one wasn't looking so great but attributed it to stress from being in a deli cup with 2 others all day. Over the last 2 days she would not eat and became increasingly lethargic. Tonight when I got home from work she had died

I am however happy to report that the male and the other female are doing really well. I contacted the company to let them know about the condition the bearded was in when I got it home.

Also might have some babies soon, my other female was digging yesterday!

i used to keep fish and i used to buy them a few at a time, not all of them survive, i find they naturaly pair up, the male takes a female and accepts maybe one or two more, but those ones have to bullied a bit so that they respect the main female, they mostly seemed to have trouble aclimatising when they would die, or were just basically battered by the male... it just happens that way

Hi there. Sorry to hear you lost one of your pygmys. They do suffer from stress esp if they have had to cope with a lot of changes over a short time. Also close together in the cup would have stressed them. Sounds like it was too much for the one you lost. Keep the other two well hydrated and just leave them to settle down. The three would have been fine living together with plenty of places to hide away from each other if they wanted to. Hopefully the two you have will be ok and thrive for you. All the best.
    Cheers.

Thanks for the condolences guys, The other female and male I have named Funk & Wagnall (like the encyclopedia I loved when I was a kid). They seem to be doing great!

I contacted the store I obtained them from and they agreed to replace her if I drove to the next show 3 hours away and picked up another. That is not gonna happen. They seemed to think that perhaps she was eggbound or retained an egg from her last lay.

How do I keep this from happening with my other female?
