This started alarm bells ringing as i was sure i read that they didnt need the heat as this will kill them so i made my excuses an came home saying i would ring him in the morn an let him no if my partner aloud me to have her. What do you think shall i buy my viv else where an go back an get her??? or shall i look else where???

:-? Hello! I'm new to this blog and really am new to blogging but had a question. I just received 2 female and one male baby bearded pygmy chameleons.
When they first arrived, I decided to feed them wingless fruitflies right in the container they came in. I saw two of them actually eat. The third one, which oddly seems like the friendliest didn't eat. They are extremely small about the size of a penny.
My question is how should I go about feeding them? I have a zoomed terrarium with a vent and mesh top that also opens in the front. 12x12x 18 (?) I was thinking of putting some sort of container in there and putting they pinhead crickets in or put some fruitflies in there. I didn't want them to be bothered or bitten by the crickets or fruitflies.
Please help, any ideas or advice on how you feed yours is appreciated.
Thank you

Unfortunatly my female has died, the pair were around 1 year when i recieved them and she shed her skin within a month of my having her. Not full sure what was wrong with her but she stopped eating and even when i bowl fed her only ate a cricket and 2 flies but i found her the next day on a fern. In good news my male (winston) is still here and is as mad as ever. I will be buying him another female friend soon as i think he's getting lonley but he is still as active as ever and running around the viv like a mad man.

Got them straight into their viv and after a couple of minutes of warming up they were straight up to the top and looking around at everything.

I get so tired of getting 'that look'.
Sometime you get so excited about sharing the latest addition to your collection. How tiny and cute it is, how it has that funny little nose. Or want to talk about your evening washing and arranging plants to get just that right look in you terrarium. How perfect it turned out and how happy your little guy looked when he settled in. Then you get...

That look.

"She's that strange reptile lady."

Sometimes it's a little off putting to have an unusual hobby. Maybe I should buy shoes like other girls (I do have more reptiles than some girls have shoes). More often than not, I just wish there were more people I could hang out with that share my interest. The only time I'm around like minded people is twice a year when I go to the reptile shows. At least my children are 'strange reptile people' too.

There is a group of chameleon keeper in California but it is a three and a half hour drive to get there. I'm going to try and start my own local group but I don't know how many chameleon keepers are in my area. But for the time being, I'm glad this site exists that I can share my interest with someone. Even if most of you are an ocean away. It's nice to be in the company of other weird reptile people!

So i finally got one of the final packages i order before xmas for my uluguru set up. Typically it was the hydroton balls that took the longest to arrive so i couldnt even start the set up but with the arrival of them i dropped Neil at The living jungle a final email to say that everything was ready for him to send them. I had planned to take photos of my set up all the way though the build but time was not on my side and i had more on my mind so forgot but below are the pictures of the initial set up. It consists of a 30x30x45 exo terra, coco husk and hydroton balls for my substrate and a couple of fake plants for the moment. I have real plants and some bamboo for extra climbing equipent and added cover and a bunch of leaves that just need to now be baked before being put in the bottom. Hopefully the picture will have loaded on and you can take a quick look at it. Will update it again once i have got the ulugurus all settled in so i can get some pictures of them without stressing them out.
