Enclosure Capacity

Most pygmies are 3-8 cm (1-3"), but that doesn't mean they can be crammed together in small enclosures. A good rule of thumb is a minimum of 30 square cm (1sqft) per 2 pygmies.
You can have more than one male if the enclosure is large and planted enough. Remember that males can become territorial and it is not recommended to have more than 2 males even in a large enclosure. Most keepers still prefer to have only one male per enclosure as you will know who sired the babies.

Here is a guide using available sizes of Exo-Terra Terrariums.

    (1.1 = 1 male. 1 female)

    Maximum Pygmies per tank:
    30 x 30 x 30 cm - 12" x 12" x 12" (WxDxH) = 1.1 (max 2)
    30 x 30 x 45 cm - 12" x 12" x 18" (WxDxH) = 1.2 (max 3)
    45 x 45 x 45 cm - 18" x 18" x 18" (WxDxH) = 1.3 (max 4)
    45 x 45 x 60 cm - 18" x 18" x 24" (WxDxH) = 1.5 (max 6)
    60 x 45 x 45 cm - 24" x 18" x 18" (WxDxH) = 2.4 (max 6)
    60 x 45 x 60 cm - 24" x 18" x 24" (WxDxH) = 2.6 (max 8)
    90 x 45 x 45 cm - 36" x 18" x 18" (WxDxH) = 2.6 (max 8)
    90 x 45 x 60 cm - 36" x 18" x 24" (WxDxH) = 2.8 (max 10)
