    Default Starting My Enclosure

Hi just looking for some advice before I finally start.

When I am putting down my substrate what type of thing should I put over hydroballs to stop the soil mixing with it ?

    Thanks David

I'm not an expert but whne I just set up my tank a few days ago I used insect screening. It seemed to work pretty well.

    Thanks for the replies guys.

Just went with this stuff Zoo Med Reptile Terrarium Substrate Mesh 47x47cm on eBay (end time 20-Sep-10 23:24:16 BST)

Was just as cheap as insect mesh or weed guard.

    Thanks David

i actually thought weedmesh might be toxic, i got the zoomed mesh, i had to have 2 pieces, then i thought that maybe luckyreptiles fleece would be better, more closed and more capable, then i thought that the mesh would be good on top of that because i can easily change the soil in time by just pulling it out... in the end i just had the fleece and are using luckyreptiles clay balls mixed with activated carbon on the base...

Hi. Weed mesh/quard is fine to use. I get mine from the garden centre (usually on rolls so you can cut lengths of it as you require). Have been using it for years.
Good luck setting up your viv.
